An Israeli airstrike on a school sheltering displaced Palestinians in Gaza City has resulted in at least 22 deaths, including many children, according to the Gaza health ministry.

The attack occurred at the Zeitoun School, where thousands of displaced individuals had sought refuge amid ongoing genocide in Gaza. The Gaza health ministry reported that the casualties included 13 children, six women, and an infant.

The Israeli occupation forces claimed the strike targeted a Hamas command center, alleging that it was embedded within the school. This assertion has been met with skepticism, as repeated Israeli claims have often been proven false.

This incident is part of a disturbing trend, with reports indicating that Israel has bombed numerous schools and shelters housing displaced Palestinians throughout the ongoing genocide. The Gaza health ministry reported that over 41,391 Palestinians have died since the conflict escalated.

Despite international outcry, Israeli forces continue their attacks on civilian facilities, often disregarding the safety of those seeking refuge from the violence. The United Nations has documented extensive damage to its facilities, highlighting the dire consequences of the ongoing invasion.
